How can I maximize the discharge time of the Nikon EN-EL1 battery?

The discharge time will vary by different user. It depends on the features you are using in your notebook PC during the time you are using the Nikon EN-EL1 battery. For example, if you are playing a movie from DVD and you are connected to a wireless network, your battery life will be shorter than normal. If you are just reading or editing a file or answering email on a wired network connection, you will experience maximum Nikon EN-EL1 battery life. Please note that your maximum discharge time will be shortened as the storage capacity decays.

Will the Nikon EN-EL1 battery performance degrade over time?

Degradation is a normal condition of all rechargeable Nikon EN-EL1 Digital Camera battery and is not limited to notebook PCs or other products. If the notebook is used on Nikon EN-EL1 battery power often, requiring one or more recharges per day, the battery will experience a high degree of degradation and will need to be replaced sooner than a battery that is used occasionally. Also, temperature and humidity impact the storage capacity of a battery for Nikon EN-EL1 . It is best to store the battery and notebook in a cool dry place.

Under normal operating conditions, a battery can perform well for over a year, but it will hold less of a charge every time it is recharged. The Battery Check utility validates that every battery is operating normally by checking the condition of the cells of the Nikon EN-EL1 Digital Camera battery. The Health status will change to " Replace " if the cells are not functioning normally.
NOTE: As with all Nikon EN-EL1 battery, the maximum capacity of this battery will decrease with time or use. Loss of battery capacity will vary depending on the product configuration and usage, including but not limited to: product model, applications running, power management settings, and product features. The battery warranty does not cover natural deterioration of battery capacity. Your battery is only warranted from defects in materials or workmanship resulting in failure, to determine if your battery has had a warranted failure you may be required to run an HP diagnostic.
